    Advanced Scenario Testing Powers ADAS and Autonomous Driving

    The race to develop safe and reliable autonomous driving systems has intensified in recent years, with automakers and tech companies pouring billions into research and development. At the heart of this pursuit lies the need for rigorous testing and validation of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) technologies. Enter Foretellix, an Israeli startup specializing in autonomous vehicle testing and verification solutions, and MathWorks, a leading developer of mathematical computing software. The two companies have joined forces to streamline and enhance Mazda’s ADAS and AD development efforts.

    Integrating Simulation and Verification Tools

    The collaboration between Foretellix and MathWorks revolves around the integration of Foretellix’s Foretify platform with MathWorks’ tools, including MATLAB and Simulink. Foretify is a comprehensive verification solution that enables the creation, execution, and analysis of large-scale scenarios for ADAS and AD systems. By integrating with MathWorks’ tools, which are widely used in the automotive industry for model-based design and simulation, the companies aim to provide Mazda with a seamless workflow for developing and testing autonomous driving technologies.

    According to a joint press release, the integration will enable Mazda engineers to leverage the scenario description language (SDL) within Foretify to define complex test scenarios, including edge cases and corner cases. These scenarios can then be executed and analyzed using a combination of Foretify’s verification capabilities and MathWorks’ simulation and modeling tools.

    Accelerating Autonomous Vehicle Deployment

    The partnership between Foretellix and MathWorks addresses a critical challenge in the development of autonomous vehicles: the need for extensive testing and validation to ensure safety and reliability. As highlighted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the deployment of autonomous vehicles requires rigorous testing and verification to identify and mitigate potential risks and ensure compliance with safety standards.

    By combining Foretellix’s scenario-based testing capabilities with MathWorks’ simulation and modeling tools, Mazda can streamline the development and testing of ADAS and AD systems.
